
The England Open Men's Championship brought a memorable weekend of darts at Seal Bay Resort to a thrilling conclusion, as Scott Robertson produced a series of exceptional performances to lift the title. Robertson was in superb form from the outset. After defeating Kieran Smith 4-0 with a 93.94 average in the Last 32, he followed up with a 4-2 victory over Geoffrey Heath before producing one of the performances of the tournament in the quarter-finals. Averaging a remarkable 96.99, Robertson defeated Brandon Richardson 4-1 to book his place in the semi-finals.
His last-four clash with James Hubbard proved to be one of the matches of the championship. Hubbard had impressed throughout the event, defeating Matthew Macintosh, Aaron Turner and Peter Reynolds on his way to the semi-finals. Both players averaged close to 90 in a high-quality encounter, but Robertson edged a dramatic 4-3 victory to secure his place in the final.
The opposite half of the draw belonged to Chas Barstow, who produced arguably the standout performance of the entire tournament. In the Last 16, Barstow fired in a stunning 103.96 average during a 4-1 victory over Reece Colley, the only ton-plus average recorded in the latter stages of the event. He continued his impressive run by defeating Pat Scurfield 4-1 before overcoming Jim McEwan 4-2 in the semi-finals with another excellent 92.38 average.
The final brought together two of the tournament's form players and lived up to expectations. Robertson averaged 87.99 while Barstow posted 87.72 in a match packed with quality scoring and finishing. Despite the closeness of the averages, Robertson found the crucial moments at the right time, pulling away in the latter stages to secure a 5-2 victory and become England Open Champion.
