Lane's route to the title was anything but easy. After defeating Ben Harper 4-0 in the Last 32 and Brandon Richardson 4-2 in the Last 16, he faced the dangerous Jayden Jones in the quarter-finals. Both players averaged over 84 in a high-quality contest, but Lane held firm to secure a 4-2 victory and move into the last four.
Awaiting him in the semi-finals was Chas Barstow, who had been one of the standout performers of the championship.
