The England Classic Open Pairs, proudly sponsored by The Olly Croft Centre of Excellence, one80, and The Seal Bay Resort, delivered another thrilling showcase of talent at the magnificent Seal Bay Resort in Selsey, England. A packed field featuring many of the sport’s finest names produced high-quality darts, drama, and big finishes throughout the day, with the title ultimately going to the outstanding pairing of Matt Clark and David Fatum, who claimed victory after a gripping 3–2 win over Cori Wiltshire and Mitchell Lawrie in a fiercely contested final.
Clark and Fatum combined experience and power scoring throughout the event, growing stronger with every round. Their campaign began with a confident 3–0 win over Simon Stothart and Joe Croft before producing a series of composed performances through the later stages. A 3–1 quarter-final victory over Luke Ely and Jim McEwan was followed by a dominant 3–0 semi-final triumph against the dangerous duo of Jarred Cole and Chas Barstow.
The final proved to be a real test, as Wiltshire and Lawrie—who themselves had shown resilience and consistency all day—pushed the match to a deciding leg. Both teams traded 180s and heavy scoring visits, but it was Clark and Fatum’s finishing that proved decisive, sealing a thrilling 3–2 victory to take home the England Classic Open Pairs crown.
Runners-up Wiltshire and Lawrie had every reason to be proud of their performance. After a 3–1 quarter-final win over Jack Cullen and Cameron O’Brien, they edged out Harry Lane and Pat Scurfield 3–2 in a tense semi-final that went the distance. Their run to the final was a display of grit and composure under pressure, and their partnership looks one to watch in future events.
The competition from the Top 128 onward showcased incredible depth and quality, with notable performances from established names and rising talents alike. Players such as Cole and Barstow, Lane and Scurfield, and Ely and McEwan all left their mark with impressive averages and high checkouts across the board.
