News

On Saturday 5th July 2008, John Peoples resigned as a director of England Darts. John has found it difficult to dedicate the time necessary, due to his promotion to being head of Health and Safety in his company which takes him all over the world, his responsibilities now include being head of Health & Safety in India to go along with his current remit of being head of Health & Safety throughout the continent of Europe, John over the last year has also had consultancy spells in both Australia and China. It is personally a sad day for me as John is my lifetime friend, but also for the well being of England Darts, it is unusual for professional people to be involved in darts and as such England will be definitely be the poorer for his departure. On behalf of England and its members I would wish John all the very best in his career and thank him for all his efforts during his time as an England Director. The other directors will be for the interim period taking up Johns role. For any correspondence please contact me. There is now a vacancy on the board for a communications Director, if anyone would like to offer their services please could you contact me directly.

Thankyou

Tommy Thompson

Chairman England Darts Organisation

Shaun Greatbatch

I was very shocked this morning (15th June) to hear that current England International, Shaun Greatbatch, was in hospital and had being diagnosed with cancer.

I have spoken to his Mum, Sandra, and she said he is receiving treatment in hospital and they think he will be there for a week or so before coming home to continue his treatment. Sandra said Shaun is very positive about the diagnosis.

I will update this page when we hear further news from the family, but I am sure everyone will join me and the rest of the England Board and the current England squads in sending our best wishes to Shaun and his family.

If you would like to forward a message to Shaun please e-mail me on cambsdarts@homecall.co.uk and I will make sure he gets them.

Congratulations to Martin Adams On Setting A New England Appearance Record

Martin Adams played his 70th match for England on Sunday 6th March against Wales during the 2008 British Internationals in Scotland, where he beat Wayne Warren 3 - 0 with a 29.47 average. The previous record of 69 caps was held by John Lowe and has stood for fifteen years.

Trina Gulliver's autobiography will be out at the end of January 2008. If you click on the link below it will take you to Amazon.co.uk and you can order a copy now.

"Trina Gulliver is indisputably the finest ladies' darts player in the world. With an amazing seven consecutive Lakeside Ladies' World Championship trophies under her belt, this inspirational woman can lay claim to being the most phenomenal player of all time. But it hasn't always been a story of victorious check-outs for this Warwickshire girl. Qualifying as a joiner at the age of eighteen, Trina soon set up her own business and had her first taste of making it in what has traditionally been a man's world. Her calm head, keen eye and steady hand proved to be useful skills in this trade - and would prove priceless when she stepped up to the oche as a professional player. Always a lover of the game, Trina held her first 'arrow' at the age of two, and after some success later in the Warwickshire County side, she went full-time as a professional player. Without any sponsorship in her first year, she struggled to make ends meet as she drove all over Europe to play. But her determination to get to the top saw her make it to number ten in the world, and she finally hit the bullseye in the form of a sponsor. Twelve months later she was world number one - where she remains to this day. Fiercel "
